The Persian Crocodile

Das persische Krokodil
Director: Houchang Allahyari, Maziyar Moshtagh Gohary

Austria, Documentary, 2012, 58 min, persian with english and lithuanian subtitles, V
Souther Iran. Two rangers with simple means come to rescue a crocodile that has been trapped inside a concrete sump. The walls of the basin are high and the crocodile moves with frightening speed. It has no chance of escaping on its own. A stand-off: on the one side, a frightened, recalcitrant animal, and on the other, two men who want to free it but are not so sure of how. Film examines crocodile–human relationships. On the other hand, it shows, how sometimes people seem to be weak and vulnerable alongside the gigantic animal and, in a broader sense, nature.
