Director: Nicolás Alcalá

Spain, Science fiction, 2013, 99 min, english with lithuanian subtitles, N-16
“The Cosmonaut” begins in 1967 with the arrival of Stas (Leon Ockenden) and Andrei (Max Wrottesley), two young friends, to the recently constructed Star City, where the first cosmonauts train to go to space, and where a race against the clock goes on against the Americans in a bid for sovereignity of space. Stas and Andrei will live first-hand the political intrigues, the power struggles and the successes and failures of the majestic USSR in what has come to be some of the biggest achievements of the 20th century. They will soon meet Yulia (Katrine De Candole), a telecommunications engineer with whom they will establish a deep friendship, always teetering on the verge of love but without it ever happening. Stas, the cosmonaut, will get lost in space. When he comes back he finds Earth completely empty of human life. Yulia and Andrei wait for him on the other side of a collapsing world. How far would you go for love?
