A nurse (Aggeliki Papoulia), a paramedic (Aris Servetalis), a gymnast (Ariane Labed) and her coach (Johnny Vekris) have formed a service for hire. They stand in for dead people by appointment, hired by the relatives, friends or colleagues of the deceased. They become client‘s dead husband or daughter, live in their homes and replay precious moments whenever the client chooses. The company is called “Alps”. Their leader, the paramedic, calls himself Mont Blanc. Although “Alps” members operate under a discipline regime demanded by their leader, the nurse does not. Full of word games and puzzles, Yorgos Lanthimos‘ film “Alps” is a unique, strange, almost absurd story about the roles people play in their lives.
