A Matter of Baobab - With One Growth

A Matter of Baobab - With One Growth
Director: Pola Chapelle

USA, experimental, 1966-1970, 2 min

“A Matter of Baobab – With One Growth” is both a film and a synthesis of various art forms. Having gathered an interesting international team of actors – Jonas Mekas, Louis Brigante, Storm De Hirsch, Angela Maria Andreacci di Castiglione, and Adolfas Mekas – the latter’s wife Pola Chapelle creates an intriguing visual performance with music from The Beatles and The Last Judgement.

About the director:

Pola Chapelle (born 1935) is an artist living in New York City. Providing a solid contribution to her husband Adolfas Mekas’ creative work, Chappelle is known to experimental film lovers for her own movies too. Meanwhile music fans appreciate Pola for her cosily sung Italian songs, collected while travelling in Italy and released in “Pola Chapelle Sings Italian Folksongs”.
