Kaunas International Film Festival Silver Audience Award goes to Heartbeats


The viewers of Kaunas International Film Festival voted for their favourite films this year and chose Heartbeats (Les Amours Imaginaires), directed by the Canadian wonder boy Xavier Dolan as the best film of the Festival. The producers of the film will receive the Silver Audience Award Cup and a valuable prize: substantial marketing of the film on all Non Stop Television channels - including the “Silver“ channel.

The final top 5 Kaunas Film Festival films also included works by the Festival’s guests – The Mosquito Net (La Mosquitera) by Agusti Vila and Heartbeats (Kohtaamisia) by the Finnish filmmaker Saara Cantell. The lively film Just Between Us (Neka ostane medju nama) about double lives and relationships directed by the Croatian filmmaker Rajko Grlic, and the ironic story (untitled) about the world of contemporary art in New York told by the American director Jonathan Parker also received many votes from the viewers. This year, the viewers were entitled to vote for their favourite films during the Kaunas leg episode of the Festival, October 1–10.
Lenny Peterson, representative of the quality film TV channel “Silver”, which founded the Audience Award, presented the Award to Tomas Tengmark, Kaunas Film Festival’s programme producer, who pledged to deliver it to the film’s producers.
Heartbeats, chosen as the best film by the Kaunas audience, it is a visual, stylish and dramatic love story about the friendship  between three young people turning into a love triangle. The second film by the 21-year-old Canadian filmmaker Xavier Dolan, screened at the Cannes Film Festival, was awarded the Prix Regards Jeune.
The 4th Kaunas International Film Festival took place from 1 - 17 October at the “Forum Cinemas” film theatre in Kaunas, and “Pasaka” and “Skalvija” film theatres in Vilnius.
