Director: Vasili Sigarev

Russia, drama, 88 min., 2009, lithuanian and english subtitles
The drama focuses on two characters: a nameless mother (Yana Troyanova) and daughter (Polina Plutchek). After giving birth to an unwelcome baby girl, the mother starts running away from her daughter in an attempt to find herself and start a new life. And the daughter runs after her mother as she has no idea how to live without her and is absolutely dependent on her. Their relationship is an endless run full of repeated mistakes and resembles the rotation of a spinning top toy. The spinning top, given by mother, is daughter’s first toy and the only thing that reminds her of mother when she has to live with her grandmother (Marina Gaptchenko). The film “Wolfy” (Волчок), the cinematographic debut of the director Vassily Sigarev, is a story about unconditional love – a daughter’s love for her mother. This visually expressive and emotionally stirring feature combines elements of a depressing fairy-tale, social drama and philosophic parable.
