Organisers of Kaunas International Film Festival introduce a special programme “Redux: Independent American Film Cycle”, which will provide us with an opportunity to get to know the rich American film culture. The films will be screened June 3-5 in Kaunas, and June 5-7 in Vilnius.

“In Lithuania, the films on the regular repertoire that are produced in USA are mostly films from the Hollywood studio system. But these films represent only one side of the American film industry,” says festival programme producer Tomas Tengmark. “Of course, we can not see all of these movies in Lithuania, but there is some space for American Independent movies in Lithuania.”

“Redux: Independent American Film Cycle” will introduce this year’s Oscar winning Milk with Sean Penn who has been awarded for the Best Actor. The action of this as well as the other two films of the cycle - Medicine for Melancholy and The Pleasure of Being Robbed - takes place in one of the major U.S. cities. 

Redux: Independent American Film Cycle will be screened on June 3-7 in theatres “Forum Cinemas Kaunas“, “Skalvija” and “Forum Cinemas Vingis” in Kaunas and Vilnius. The programme is the last part of a month of culture called “Opening Windows to a Different America” (“Atverkime langus kitokiai Amerikai”) organised by American Center.
